Turbogás was established in November 1994 with the aim of developing the Tapada do Outeiro natural gas combined cycle power plant. The construction of Tapada do Outeiro played a key role in the introduction of natural gas in Portugal.
An energy audit was carried out with Ewen, culminating in the presentation of a set of energy optimization recommendations.

The project was acquired in November 2004 by International Power. Due to its merger with ENGIE, it is now wholly owned by TrustEnergy.
